A State High Court sitting in Ukwa, Abia State, has restrained the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress from accepting any other list for the ward congresses held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, other than from the recognised executive led by Donatus Nwankpa until hearing and determination of the motion.
Recall that a factional leader of the APC in Abia, Ikechi Emenike, had conducted a parallel congress on Saturday and a ward congress committee from the national Secretariat of APC was said to have accorded it recognition.
But the court presided over by Justice C.N Ahuchaogu in an interim order sighted by The PUNCH dated August 4, 2021, barred the Mai Mala Buni-led interim leadership of the APC from accepting or acting on the list said to have emanated from Ahuchaogu.
The order also restrained the Buni leadership from dissolving the party structure in the state from the ward, local government, and state levels.
When contacted, Nwankpa maintained that Abia APC was together, adding that the party has no faction in the state.
He added that the party’s state chapter would wait until the court order was resolved before inaugurating its ward executives.
