I’ll not step down for any candidate – Ogun gov candidate

The Governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Ogun State, Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, has disclosed that he would not step down or collapse his structure for any candidate in the coming election in the state.

He made this disclosure on Thursday, while appearing as a guest in a forum organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State.

Oguntoyinbo said, “I have all what it takes to govern the state as the youngest among the candidates. I am not going to step down or collapse my structure for any candidate because I am not ready to tarnish my profile. I will not step down because I do not want to disappoint my followers.

“I am coming on board to build a new Ogun State. I have my blueprint on how new Ogun state will look like. I know where shoes are pitching our people and also know how to tackle it headlong. I am a successful businessman and I want to use my wealth of experience to better the lots of our people if allowed to govern the state through election on March 11, 2023.”

Speaking on protests across major cities in Nigeria over the scarcity of fuel and new naira notes, Oguntoyinbo took a swipe at the Federal Government’s policy, saying the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), was just confusing himself as his regime’s policy do have negative effects on the masses, sometimes.

“Why will you approve the new Naira notes when you know you will not make it available for the masses? The president is just confusing himself.” He added.

On electricity, Oguntoyinbo said, “There is no check and balances in the sector. Our government will collaborate with electricity companies to ensure that we have a 24-hour electricity supply in the state. It is happening in the Redeemed (Redeemed Christian Church of God) camp and Ewekoro, why not the entire Ogun State?” He asked.

He was accompanied by the state Chairman and Public Relations Officer of NNPP, Oloposi Okinni and Kehinde Olowu, respectively.
