Katsina police recover 170 animals, AK-47 rifle from bandits’ hideout

The Katsina State Police Command said it has recovered 170 domestic animals belonging to two deceased leaders of bandits during a raid on their hideouts in Dage village, Dutsin-ma Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this on Saturday, however, said no arrests were made.

Isah gave the names of the late bandits as Kabiru Master and Tashi Alhaji Musa, who were killed in the state during a leadership tussle two weeks ago.

He said, ‘’On December 2, 2021, at about 8am, credible information was received that about two weeks ago, two groups of bandits led by one Kabiru Master and another led by one Tashi Alhaji Musa had a misunderstanding which led to a serious fight at Sabon Birni forest, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State, leading to the killing of Tashi Alhaji Musa and nine other bandits.

“Both leaders are indigenes of Dage village, Dutsinma LGA of Katsina State. Subsequently, an Intelligence report at the disposal of the command revealed that some of their domestic animals reasonably suspected to be rustled ones were brought home by some bandits who survived the fight. Consequently, the command swung into action and raided their respective houses at Dage village, Dutsinma LGA. In the course of the investigation, 67 cows, 60 sheep, 40 goats and three donkeys were recovered.”

He added that policemen also recovered one AK47 rifle from a recent operation in the Bakori Local Government Area of the state.

“Similarly, on December 1, 2021, at about 5.20p.m, information was received that unknown Yansakai outlawed group from Kandarawa/Garanguzai villages of the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, attacked Gidan Gamji Fulani settlement, Kankara LGA, shooting indiscriminately with dangerous weapons. The Yansakai killed two persons and set the camp ablaze before the arrival of police patrol teams to the area.”
