    Insecurity: It’s now more actions, less talk, says Naval chief

    The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Awwal Gambo, has said that as far as the nation’s security challenges are concerned, it is now more actions and less talk from security agencies.

    He said the challenges were not insurmountable.

    According to a statement on Friday, Gambo made this remark during the visit of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, to the Defense Headquarters in Abuja.

    The statement issued by the Director Information, Press and Public Relations to the AGF, Henshaw Ogubike, was titled ‘We will continue to support you, AGF Idris assures the Nigerian Navy.’

    The statement read, “He (the Chief of Naval Staff) noted that the security challenges the country is facing are not insurmountable, adding that ‘it is now more action, less talk’ as directed by the President.”

    While acknowledging the enormous responsibility saddled on the Nigerian Navy and other Armed Forces, the AGF assured the Naval Chief of the continuous support of the federal treasury to the forces.

    He added that treasury will ensure timely release of funds to the Armed Forces to enable them to secure the country’s territorial waters and sovereignty.

    He said, “The Nigerian Navy and other Armed Forces have kept the country one in terms of discharge of their duties. Your responsibility is enormous, you need every support.

    “We will continue to support you by giving you the necessary tools for you to deliver.”

    Idris also congratulated the Naval Chief on his appointment and stressed that no effort will be sparred to sustain the cordial relationship that has existed between the Nigeria Armed Forces and the Federal Treasury.
