    Tinubu hails ex-IGP, Smith at 75

    A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has described a former Inspector General of Police, Musiliu Smith, as a dependable leader and statesman.

    Tinubu said Smith, who is the chairman of the Police Service Commission, worked diligently and sacrificed for the unity of the country.

    The former Lagos State governor said the attributes contributed to his rise to the pinnacle of his career in the Nigeria Police Force.

    In a statement to congratulate Smith as he turned 75, the APC leader said he often looked up to the former IGP for guidance and direction.

    The statement signed by Tinubu Media Office and titled, ‘Asiwaju Tinubu Hails Alhaji Smith as He Clocks 75,’ raid in part, “He worked relentlessly and sacrificed for the unity and togetherness of this country. His dedication and commitment to selfless service engendered his rise to the pinnacle of the police career as Inspector General. It is no surprise that, even in retirement, Alhaji Smith was again tapped to serve as Chairman of the Police Service Commission.

    “As an icon and dependable leader, I relate to him with respect and admiration and often look up to him for guidance and direction. I believe his simplicity, humility, perseverance, industry, integrity, honesty and modest lifestyle are attributes worthy of emulation by the younger generation.”
