Army warns residents ahead of Lokoja shooting range exercise

‎The Nigerian Army has announced that the 12 Brigade, Lokoja, will conduct its first annual Range Classification Exercise from March 30 to April 2.

‎The Brigade’s spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Lokoja.

‎He said that the exercise would take place at the Chari Maigumeri Shooting Range and is aimed at enhancing the marksmanship and operational readiness of officers and soldiers.

‎Abdullahi explained that the exercise would also enable the Brigade to assess the serviceability of its weapons in line with standard military requirements.

‎According to him, the training is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to strengthen its capacity to tackle banditry and other security challenges in the region.

‎He urged residents of Shettima, Zango, and neighbouring communities not to panic at the sound of gunshots or movement of troops during the period.

‎“Members of the public are advised to stay clear of the range area throughout the duration of the exercise for their safety.

‎“The Army appeals to residents to help disseminate this information widely, including translating it into local languages to ensure adequate awareness,” he said.
