The Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the state’s residents.
In line with this commitment, the governor presented 50 operational Toyota Hilux vehicles to various security agencies during a ceremony held at the Government House grounds in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday.
The event formed part of the activities marking the governor’s first 100 days in office.
Expressing his satisfaction at the opportunity to equip security agencies with essential logistics, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that the distribution of operational vehicles clearly demonstrates his administration’s resolve to enhance the capacity and responsiveness of security formations across the state.
He stated, “This event underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and capacity of our security agencies to respond promptly to any security alert or criminal activity within the state.”
Highlighting the importance of collaboration among all security stakeholders, Aiyedatiwa stressed that such synergy is vital to addressing the security challenges confronting the state.
Recalling that in July 2024, the state government distributed 25 Toyota Hilux vans to security agencies, the governor described the current presentation as a continuation of that initiative.
“These vehicles are a token of our appreciation for your dedication and service. Moreover, I reiterate that the distribution of vehicles to security agencies is a key strategy for strengthening our security apparatus,” he added.
In his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, emphasised that the current administration takes security matters seriously and is firmly committed to promoting orderliness and ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout Ondo State.
He urged all residents to support the Aiyedatiwa-led government in realising its vision for a safer and more prosperous Ondo.
Speaking on behalf of all security agencies, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, assured that the vehicles would be effectively utilised and properly maintained.
He promised that the vehicles would be dedicated solely to enhancing security operations and ensuring rapid response across the state.
Similarly, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that the vehicles would significantly alleviate mobility challenges faced by security personnel and greatly improve the Corps’ efficiency in managing security issues statewide.
