‎Nigerian Police Halt Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement Following Court Order

The Nigeria Police Force has suspended the enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permits in response to a court order, as announced by SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, during an AIT interview on Wednesday. Adeh confirmed that the police received the court order and have paused enforcement pending the final verdict.

‎“We are not against the courts, and we will wait for the verdict,” Adeh stated, emphasizing compliance with the legal process. She clarified that the tinted glass regulation was introduced for security reasons, as criminals have used vehicles with darkened windows to commit offenses, complicating suspect identification.

‎Addressing public speculation, Adeh denied claims that the policy was financially motivated, stating that all payments for tinted permits are deposited directly into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), not to the police.
